About Humayun's Tomb

Experience the Grandeur of Humayun's Tomb

Step back in time at Humayun's Tomb, a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site that's a must-see for any first-time visitor to Delhi. This magnificent tomb is not just a resting place; it's a masterpiece of Mughal architecture and a precursor to the iconic Taj Mahal.

A Glimpse into the Mughal Empire

Commissioned by Empress Bega Begum in memory of her husband, Emperor Humayun, this tomb was completed in 1572. It stands as a testament to the power and artistic vision of the Mughal Empire. The tomb's design influenced countless later Mughal structures, making it a pivotal monument in Indian history.

Architectural Marvels and Serene Gardens

Marvel at the harmonious blend of Persian and Indian architectural styles. The tomb is built with red sandstone and white marble, featuring intricate details and grand proportions. It's set within a sprawling Charbagh garden, a four-part paradise garden symbolizing the Islamic concept of paradise. The symmetrical layout, water channels, and pathways create a sense of peace and order.
